Preordered the book and eagerly awaiting it. Since it’s almost Thanksgiving, just want to say how grateful I am for the Dinner Doctor, What Can I Bring etc. I took care of my elderly mother for 10 years, and those recipes were loved by both of us. And meal preparation was easy and fun. I’m still cooking out of them. Congratulations on the new book. I think I’ll bake some cakes to share during the holidays. That’s just what my mom would have done.

Dear Anne, I am a long time follower and baker. I used your first books in my tea room Her Majesty's English Tea Room because yes they saved time, but they were always better than perfect. Recently I fell, shattered my pelvis bone and hip and am recooping with a hip replacement. I need the new version. I need simple and good, what you always represent. Congratulations and much success. As an early follower, I am proud for you. Jacqueline Gillam Fairchild

What a wonderful post! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Your book was delivered yesterday and I've been poring over it ever since. The lighter sugar approach is such a good, healthier idea. Thanks for the extra recipe also - it looks delicious. Will there be any additional signings in Nashville during December?

I remember teaching and living at a boarding school during the last century and baking cake mix cakes for the students' birthdays. I had only two tricks at the time - one was devil's food flavored with mint and topped with scratch made dark chocolate mint American buttercream. The other was yellow cake mix with orange zest and tart lemon American buttercream. That was before Cake Mix Doctor came into our kitchens and changed things for all of us busy bakers.

There are many good cake mixes out now, too, without artificial coloring or flavorings or preservatives, both regular and gluten free.

Also, this may seem odd, but I usually buy an extra box of mix and use the baking scale to add from the second box and bring the mix up to the old weight of around 18 ounces. If it's tightly resealed, it can be used a few more times. Not sure how this would affect the recipes in your new book.

Between the Layers is a special inbox treat every week. Thank you for doing it.

I got my kindle version today and all the photo pages have the wrong description/link! Any ideas on how to fix it? I can't seem to figure how to contact Amazon about this. Example...the Mint Chocolate Cookies and Cream cake says it's Chocolate Olive Oil Cake. This continues through all the photo links. 😓

I pre- ordered and received my book yesterday! Yay! I am thrilled - I'm already on 'Layer Up'! This is a book to read as well as dive in and cook from. The format, photos of the beauteous creations and overall appearance is beautiful! I told hubby I see a lovely cake in his near future - just in time for the holidays, too! As far as that crazy-good banana cake that didn't make the book? I baked it immediately from the bonus recipes download; and it is divine! Thank you again for your labors. Now, excuse me, I have to go place some notebook sticky tabs on some book pages!

Hi Anne, I have been using your books since the first time I bought one a long time ago! I am a 66 year old mother of 3 very grown children and 4 grandchildren. I remember well baking one of your recipes for the first time and it was electric! What a time saver with a fabulous result! Over the years I have made so many of your cake recipes for schools, sports teams, orchestras, everything that kids do, and of course birthdays, holidays and on and on. Thank you! I am looking forward to receiving your latest book tomorrow! Best of luck and thank you for your weekly posts and emails! I love baking!

I have always felt that using a cake mix as a base is no different then making a cake from scratch. A cake mix is just the dry ingredients sugar, flour etc of a scratch mix already done for you in a measured amount and boxed. You have taken the time to figure out the wet ingredients which will change any dry cake base into a delicious cake. Your cake mix book is a must have (my married daughter stole mine!) So many of mine friends have gone sugar free, gluten free etc as we get older and are trying to eating a healthier version of what we love. I am looking forward to your new book!!
