I read with interest that vegans can eat this cake, an interesting side benefit of this recipe for today’s eating trends. I am searching for a vegan cookie recipe to bake as a thank you gift. I will pull out my copy of American Cookie to look.

Honestly, I can't remember. And I haven't been able to locate the recipe again. She said the recipe I found wasn't exactly what she remembered her mother's recipe to be, but it was close enough.

What am I hungry for? Lemon Fluff! But I never make it. I remember it had a box of lemon jello, evaporated milk, and crushed vanilla wafers made a bottom layer. It was chilled in a 9 x 13 pan, and had a sprinkle of crushed vanilla wafers on top! We were crazy about it at my house. But jello made the packages smaller as I remember and it wasn't as good.

I always keep evaporated milk in the pantry! And we use it often.

No no… glaze goes over Fireball Bundt Cake. Still no glaze on chocolate chip cake. Took 3 HUGE loaves of CCC for Labor Day weekend lake trip plus a full Bundt Caramel Nut Cake… not a crumb left over.

I received a Dutch oven a few years ago for Christmas just so I could make the Cowboy cake. I enjoyed it and appreciated that it was vegan.
