The Almond Cream Cheese Pound cake is a family favorite, particularly my oldest grandson's. Also the Darn Good Chocolate Cake - I mix in dark chocolate chips with the semi-sweet chips just to give it a little something extra. My son doesn't normally favor chocolate cake, but he loves this one. Lastly, the Applesauce Spice Cake - I love making this for the Fall and Winter holidays. Everyone loves it. My My CMD book is falling apart, and has stains on it, but it is my most beloved cookbook. So many good memories have come from baking the cakes from your recipes. I am definitely ordering the new one!
For over 20 years I am making the Darn Good Chocolate Cake. I can do it with my eyes closed. A staple in my kitchen are all the ingredients for this cake. If any of my children or grandchildren call and say come for dinner and please bring a chocolate cake. Thanks Anne. You make everyone happy.
In the years since the first book and after my own level III Cancer battle, I now have celiac’s and I’m able to make any recipe just by using gluten-free mixes and no one is the wiser. Thank you Anne. When I was teaching, your book was my home ec bible for my special education kids and now I have taken your recipes into retirement. Your new book is already on order. Thanks for spreading joy!
Late to the party! Almost too many to list... My family's favorites are Stacy's Chocolate Chip cake (surprise!), the Chocolate Midnight Cake with white chocolate frosting, and Big Bad Chocolate muffins. The muffin recipe has been requested by coworkers, my son's teacher when he was in grade school, and now my son in college. Passing on the Cake Mix Doctor tradition! He is home from college this weekend and I made Kathy's Cinnamon Breakfast cake for breakfast this morning. And the Fluffy Chocolate frosting is the BEST.
Let me start by saying your cakes are favored by all my family, friends and co-workers. My husband prefers your recipes any day to a from scratch cake that I will labor over for hours. All are loved, but my husband, his co-workers and my church members absolutely love the Banana Cake recipe which I bake in a bundt cake and I doctor it up by sprinkling chopped pecans in the bottom of the sprayed bundt pan, I substitute buttermilk for the water, and I fold in cinnamon chips into the batter & glaze the cake with your Brown Sugar Caramel Glaze. Everyone loves this cake and cannot believe it is from a cake mix. My 92 year old dad's favorite, as well as many friends and co-workers absolutely love the Baby Chocolate Pistachio Cakes which I glaze with your Shiny Chocolate Glaze. I bake and give those baby cakes away as gifts for birthdays and X-mas gifts; they are loved by all. Any time I have to bake for our church bake sales, fish fries, or a soup kitchen that our church contributes to, I turn to your Cake Mix Doctor recipes. My original paperback Cake Mix Doctor book given to me as a gift by my best friend is so worn and the pages are literally falling out because it is the book I turn to again & again. I have since purchased a hardback copy of the original and the Chocolate Cake Mix Doctor book. Your passion for baking is so evident in your recipes and I am so grateful and appreciate all your hard work. I have always loved to bake but work extremely long hours. Your books have allowed me to still have time to fit baking into my life and contribute those goods to my family, friends, church bake sales, & soup kitchens. Thank you for these lovely cookbooks. I cannot wait to read your new cookbook!
Chocolate Orange cake is my favorite and most requested by friends. I look forward to the orange chocolates that you whack and it every year at Christmas and now I can have that taste anytime with this cake !! Chocolate Cherry cake is so moist and yummy also !
Oh how do I love thee, let me count thy favorite cakes....
Chocolate Fudge Ribbon Cake (from you Oct 2001 newsletter - I am not sure where it on the web, but it's my top made cake for sure!)
The Perfect Chocolate Cake (with Perfect Chocolate Frosting of course!) - a birthday favorite

Congratulations on your new book. My mom bought me your original one for Christmas in 2001.
I keep a box of vanilla cake mix on hand so I can add the extra to make up for the smaller boxes by using my kitchen scale to get to the correct weight needed. Thank you for sharing so many lovely recipes!
Your Triple Chocolate To-Live-For Muffins were always the number one request with our family, friends and neighbors. I used dark, semisweet, and milk chips since I didn’t care for white chocolate. All three of my grown children continue the tradition, making them for their families and friends- Especially our son, who has always preferred them, despite having worked for Georgetown Cupcakes in DC for several years, as well as opening and managing their Newbury Street Bakery in Boston in 2012-13. Thank you for adding such sweet memories to our lives!
My family loves Darn Good Chocolate Cake. It is requested at all birthday celebrations. Before I had the recipe memorized the page fell out of the book from using it over and over and coping it for friends.
I am honored to have a cake listed as a favorite still after all of these years, Anne. It is the top cake for my 8 grands and will be accompanying us Labor Day weekend on the lake. Can't wait for your new book to be released. Congratulations!
Your yellow cake with chocolate frosting was the requested cake for birthdays when I was working. I like the chocolate cherry cake, caramel cake, and snickerdoodle ones also. I was one of those people who would use a can of frosting because I thought making it was too time consuming. Since I got your CMD when it first came out, homemade frosting is here to stay.
So many favorites: Strawberry w/strawberry cream cheese frosting, Darn Good Chocolate Cake w/ Chocolate frosting, Buttermilk Devils Food w/ white chocolate frosting,Peanut butter chocolate bars w/ chocolate frosting, Chocolate Chip layer cake w/ chocolate cream cheese frosting. Dearly LOVE the muffin recipes in the Cupcake Doctor book. My husband thinks there’s nothing better for breakfast than muffins, I bake LOTS of muffins. I thinkI could say every recipe of yours I have tried is my favorite recipe. I have never had a failure.
So many favourite cakes! Darn Good Chocolate with chocolate ganache, Honey Bun, Tres Leches, Five Flavour, the Best Pound Cake. I come from a large family, and have become the designated “Baker” even tho I’ve never made a cake from scratch in my life😆
When I became a mom 30 years ago, I knew I had to learn to bake cakes. I baked countless cakes since then. My children and their friends looked forward to them all. When my nieces started having babies, the cake mix doctor has been one of the baby shower gifts they received. Although, now, I have to instruct them about adding flour to these recipes. I am looking forward to your new book!
