I love this tribute. Having grown up in Georgia, I feel a higher level of kinship. Jimmy Carter without his wife seems unfathomable. Peace to all who mourn.

Rosalynn Carter - a life well lived. You can't ask for more than that. I just read that in an interview Jimmy Carter said that the most important day of his life was the day she accepted his proposal of marriage - and you know he truly meant that.

I love that lemon cake. I was once asked to bring a Bundt cake to a Church dinner. Not a crumb of it was left. I just saw that I have a box of lemon gelatin in the cupboard - now I know what I bought it for! I'm going to make it this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to you Anne!

Just a lovely tribute to Rosalynn Carter, Anne! I so admire her for her focus on mental illness, which has gotten such short shrift in this country. Being more of a cake than a pie person, I wouldn’t know which one of these beauties to make first! Having once celebrated Thanksgivukkah, I think holiday mashups are terrific. The point is to celebrate with those you love. Wishing you and your family every happiness.

So glad, Anne. That must be delightful to be together. I will definitely give the sherry cake a try. Thanks for helping me pick!

I’m thinking of making the sherry poppy seed cake for a party this weekend. Two questions: how far ahead can you make it and do you have a recommended white cake mix? (You’ve probably covered this before, so I apologize if I missed it. Chalk it up to holiday stress!)

Thank you for the lovely tribute and warm holiday wishes!

I love all you recipes, and I as well look forward to your beautiful writing and learning a piece of history!

I make the same exact lemon cake, but instead of yellow cake mix I use Duncan Hines Lemon Supreme cake mix. It is always a favorite!

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving/ Christmas filled with many blessing and memories!🦃❤️

A beautiful tribute. And enough cake recipes to last me for a long while. As I have said before, I love your recipes but I stay for your writing. Thank you and happy Thanksgiving from Canada (we celebrate in early October).

Both my kids live far away so we’ve often celebrated a mash together of Thanksgiving and Christmas. In our family it’s officially known as Thanksmas. I’ve found that whenever we’re all able to get together is a holiday no matter which day its celebrated.

What a beautiful tribute to Rosalynn Carter. I came to this country in the 1980's and it took a little for me to come to know about the quiet impact of the Carters, but I have to say, I wish they made Presidential couples like that again. What a life well lived, and well dedicated.

Thank you Anne.

Loved the cake recipes, too.

I still have my greasy newspaper clipping of the cheese ring recipe from my Atlanta years! Any time I make it for a party here in Texas they think I am crazy---until they taste it! 😊
