Yes. Okay, honestly, you had me at tres leches and strawberry in the same sentence. Baking ahead is just a bonus. And Girl Scout cookies are my favorite recipe from Between the Layers. Since you asked.
I make the king Arthurβs strawberry filled mousse angel food cake every year. Itβs so elegant and can be made ahead and frozen. I make many of your recipes, pot roast, chocolate pound cake, and king cake to name a few. Off topic but thank you for that kitchen reorganizing article. I really needed that inspiration!
Great memories of strawberry shortcake~when my grandkids were in elementary school, I would host an end-of-year luncheon for their teachers. Here in Maryland, the strawberries would be ripening in our garden so the timing was perfect. The kids and I would also make homemade whipped cream. The teachers were always so pleased that we would do this for them but I always figured that it was the least we could do to express our appreciation.
I look forward to your new cookbook and hope that you will share the book tour conversations with your fellow bakers, especially Nathalie Dupree, the grande dame of southern cooking and hospitality, in my opinion.
What a lovely gesture and those strawberry memories! Nothing beats homegrown strawberries. I will absolutely be writing this fall as I tour, sharing conversations and recipes too. π
Anne! Congratulations on 3 years and the success of this worthwhile venture. Iβve got several of your books, saw you last at Foxtale Books in Woodstock, Ga. Excited to catch you on tour, buy the new book and make this recipe for my sonβs upcoming 20th birthday! I look forward to your posts every week and starting to delve back into the archives. Best wishes!
Thanks Annie! Love Foxtale Books. So cozy. Itβs been quite an enjoyable ride but all the better being able to actively engage with readers. You donβt get that from just writing books.
This looks delicious! Happy birthday to Between the Layers! π₯³ Thereβs a sweet potato bundt cake in the archives that I go back to often. Also Kathleenβs Mac and cheese recipe has been on multiple family holiday tables since you posted it!
And a favorite strawberry recipe of mine is also one of yours - the pound cake with strawberries from skillet love. I like to serve it with a homemade strawberry-lime topping and whipped cream - it is a perfect summer cake!
Those are our family favorites, too! That Mac and Cheese is the best recipe ever. And who can resist strawberries folded into pound cake batter? Thank you! β€οΈ
Congrats on 3 years, Anne! I continue to enjoy your writing and recipes. The strawberry tres leches cake sounds like a winner. Anything with strawberries is okay by meβand I love that youβre giving us two versions to try.π°
SOLD! π
On what? Tres leches? Strawberries? Baking ahead?

Good to hear, Leslie! It inspired me to save Talenti containers and pare down too. Thanks for being such a faithful reader of BTL! β€οΈ
